What you need to know about our Lifetime ISA

  • Withdrawals will be subject to a withdrawal penalty if a) you withdraw money in the first 12 months or b) if the money is not used for your first house purchase or retirement.
  • For example, if you put in £1,000 then the government will have added £250. If you withdraw the lot, your penalty would be 25% of £1,250, which is £312.50, leaving you with just £937.50.
  • Our Lifetime ISA invests in stocks and shares. Investments can go down as well as up in value, so you could get back less than is put in. Any income your investments pay can change over time.
  • You must be aged between between 18 and 39 to open a Lifetime ISA and be a resident of the UK.
  • Tax rules for Lifetime ISAs can change, and their benefits depend on your circumstances.
  • Our website offers information but not advice. If you’re not sure which investments are right for you, please consult a financial adviser.
  • Payments into a Lifetime ISA will receive a 25% Government bonus, up to a maximum of £1,000 per tax year.
  • After you’ve invested for 12 months, you can withdraw money from your Lifetime ISA, including the 25% bonus, to help you purchase your first home. You can also withdraw the money, including the 25% bonus, when you’re aged 60 or above.
